With 5 decades of experience in the military, security, and VIP & luxury travel business, Simon remains one of the few people in Asia with such a broad range and depth of experience. Having lived and worked in Hong Kong, The Philippines, and Thailand, since 1989, Simon retired after almost 20 years of varied and operational service in the British Army, culminating as a Senior Rank Bomb Disposal Officer with Commando Forces, and was honoured with the British Empire Medal for Meritorious Service. As Founder, CEO, and Chairman of The ASA Group, he has managed and grown the company into a multi-national corporation with global operations.

Ted became part of The ASA Group in 2012 and operates from Kuala Lumpur, but his history in security began long before that. Ted’s career in commercial security started in 1973 after 8 years of military service in UK, Germany, and Hong Kong. In 1977 he co-founded and built what became a multi-national, multi-service, and multi-million-dollar grossing security company, followed by being appointed Regional President Asia Pacific by G4S from 2002-2010. With this background and enormous experience, Ted knows what it takes to keep your legacy safe.

Julie has worked in the aviation industry since 1998. The positions and responsibilities have varied; from commercial and then corporate flight attendant, aircraft sales support, Customer Service Manager at an FBO, to the West Coast Rep for a major international trip planning company. In 2010 Julie joined The ASA Group, based in Bangkok, Thailand. Julie has since become a shareholder and is currently the joint Group Managing Director/Aviation Director, overseeing all business and aircraft operations throughout our businesses across Asia and Oceania. Julie is a member of the USA National Business Aviation Association International Operators Committee (NBAA-IOC) and regularly speaks or presents at NBAA events.

A UK-qualified barrister and chartered accountant, now assisting entrepreneurs, SMEs and listed companies with corporate set-up and administrative support in numerous jurisdictions with special emphasis on Hong Kong and China. John has worked in several countries in Asia, including China, also in Europe and Africa; John has worked for multinational corporations including Deloitte, BP and CBS. John’s company began providing services to ASA in 2004; he became an individual shareholder and joined the board of directors in 2007.

VP of Global Operations & Business Development USA

Matt Burdette joined The ASA Group in 2024 as Vice President of Business Development, US, bringing a wealth of expertise in global security. Previously, he served as Director of Global Security at UnitedHealthcare Global, where he led risk management and threat mitigation for international business travelers and student organizations, ensuring safety in high-risk environments worldwide. With a comprehensive background in security operations, including physical security, intelligence analysis, travel tracking, aviation security, and crisis management, Matt has successfully led numerous evacuations in response to security threats and natural disasters. His ability to act decisively under pressure is a key strength. Matt is also a thought leader on geopolitical security issues, having authored articles on topics such as Pakistan’s political landscape, surface-to-air missile threats, and corporate intelligence challenges. His deep understanding of global security dynamics makes him a trusted leader in navigating complex international landscapes and safeguarding people, assets, and operations.

Tom mcadams

Business Development Manager - UK

Tom specialises in delivering Close Protection (CP) and Hostile Environments Awareness Training (HEAT) to a wide range of commercial and government organisations. The training and selection of operatives deploying onto Armed Protection Teams (APT) in support of clients globally. Tom has a very impressive and unblemished record with the British Army. He served in the British Armed Forces for 27 years, 18 of which were with Special Air Services (SAS) where he reached the rank of Warrant Officer.

He is experienced in looking after the needs of clients who are ‘ultra-high’ net worth individuals and their families. Tom continues to advise Presidential Executive Protection teams globally when instructed. Tom has conducted executive protection for A list celebrities within the movie industry and has worked as a military adviser on several Hollywood movies. Tom was also a subject matter expert (SME) for the awarding organisation, Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) and the Security Industry Authority (SIA)

Chris joined The ASA Group in 2019 after a 23-year career in the South Australia Police where he gained a large amount of experience investigating a wide range of serious crimes. This often involved managing large and complex tasks. Chris is the holder of the Australian National Medal and the South Australian Police Service Medal for long and diligent service. Chris personally oversees and coordinates all of The ASA Groups security operations.

John Bloomsfield

John has had a varied and interesting career in the security business. Coming from a military background (Coldstream Guards and 22 SAS) he used that experience to travel and to gain more extensive knowledge of corporate security. He has worked in South America, the Caribbean, Sri Lanka, the Middle East, the USA and Europe. In the last few years, he was head of security and estate manager for a well-known “at risk” Middle Eastern family. This role involved extensive travel with many challenging responsibilities and tasks. His skills, knowledge, and experience, add great depth to ASA Group’s service offering. John is currently embedded with a HNW family in Europe, is a dual UK and French Citizen, he speaks fluent French, and conversational Italian.

PJ joined The ASA Group in 2023 after graduating with a Master’s degree in Business Management in the United Kingdom, and has excellent experience with the passenger services department of an international airline. PJ is committed to the ASA ethos of providing the best available services to our valued customers.

With a solid foundation in defense journalism. Bond has developed a deep understanding of military and security dynamics through his work with two leading defense magazines. Currently, he applies this expertise as an Operations Coordinator, where he manages and enhances security operations, ensuring effective responses to emerging threats. Bond’s background in defense reporting equips him with a unique perspective on strategic security issues, making him a valuable asset in coordinating and implementing security measures. His transition from journalism to security services underscores his commitment to safeguarding critical assets and addressing complex security challenges.
